Our story centres on the strange folk that inhabit the unusual fishing village of Doon. Fisherman Archie braves the wild seas to make a living whilst his wife, Stella, plays around with her ‘little’ fancy man. Doris is the proprietor of the seafront store where all but gossip is rationed. Police Constable Doyle is fully occupied tracking down the fiendish and mysterious criminal behind the strange explosions and Molly, the barmaid at The Ship, enjoys a number of ‘close encounters’. The once close twins Carl and Bernard, lead odd and lonely lives in their shack on the beach, lives that will eventually be the death of one of them. Throughout the twists and turns of village life the story follows the adventures of Dilly, our heroine, and daughter of Seth, a rather obsessive lighthouse keeper. One day, whilst walking on the beach in the early morning mist, she catches sight of a young man, a stranger. Over time their relationship flourishes and the young man, Axel, reveals the true reason for his presence in this God forsaken place that is Doon.
