HardbackHarry was born in Northfleet, Kent in 1899. He was taken into care by Barnardos in 1906 and in 1908 sailed from Liverpool on the SS Dominion for Quebec, Canada and then on to Ontario to be placed on a farm. In 1917 he joined the Canadian Reserve Battalion and served in France. After the war he returned to Canada and was shot and killed by a German in Zeeland, North Dakota in 1925.
