American historical epic starring Viola Davis as Nanisca, general of the all-female Dahomey Amazons. In 19th-century West Africa, General Nanisca (Davis) leads the elite warriors of Dahomey, known as the Agojie, as they fight off enemies that threaten their kingdom. While Nanisca trains the next generation of warriors, the Oyo Empire prepares to launch an assault on Dahomey. The cast also includes Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim and John Boyega.
