Summary

Months after my father went missing, I found a map among his belongings. In the desperate hope it might lead me to him, I followed it to a cottage, standing alone in the remote Scottish Highland wilderness. He'd been here, but there was no sign of him now. Instead, I discovered thousands of terrifying scraps of paper strewn on the cottage floor, detailing his frenzied attempts to find his wife - my mother - who died before his disappearance.
