Frank has a habit of throwing himself against the floor to ceiling windows in his 38th floor office. He does this to emphasize the importance of risk-taking. When George and Frank see a couple having sex against the window in an adjacent office building, Frank again throws himself against the window to demonstrate how safe it is. This time the window comes out. Marcia is at street level when Frank lands. She had been rushing to meet him in an empty office to continue their affair. George and Marcia are linked by the trauma of witnessing Frank's fall. When they meet at the offices of an executive coach, they start to unravel what happened on that day, falling in love as they do. Doppelganger is based on a quantum theory of time: like photons and electrons, time is both particle and wave. stylistically part Fight Club, part Memento, this novel follows George and Marcia on the trajectory that started the moment they were born.
