"For Paul, in love" is the dedication engraved by the Jewish silversmith Johann Blumenthal from Hamburg in 1914 for his son on a music box. It is his farewell present, because Johann volunteers for military service to fight for his beloved homeland. The precious memory of his father becomes a symbol of hope and cohesion for Paul and his children, as the hatred of his people grows and the noose around the prestigious jewelery family draws closer. The heirloom will give comfort to the flower neck, endanger it and one day separate it. Until almost fifty years later, it gets into the hands of young Londoner Lilian Morrison and the silver music box of her older sister sneaks into her dreams every night like an uninvited guest. But what does the precious memory of the Blumenthal family have to do with her?
