Mais il est malgré lui envoûté par son univers qui, s'éloignant peu à peu d'une violence gratuite en apparence, exprime une recherche d'harmonie avec l'autre, en particulier avec son compagnon Ulay qu'elle enlace à l'étouffer avant de nouer sa chevelure à la sienne ou d'exposer son coeur à la flèche de son arc. Deux ans après cette apparition florentine, Paul Gachet tombe par hasard sur une photo ancienne de Marina A et d'Ulay intitulée L'impossible rapprochement. Prise en 1983 à Bangkok, elle montre deux êtres qui voudraient se toucher mais en sont mystérieusement empêchés et doivent rester à distance l'un de l'autre.
